Under the Mvule Tree - Ugandan Boy Soldier

Under the Mvule Tree - War Art By Children - Boy Solider - UgandaAn escapee boy soldier, formerly abducted by rebels, has found positive self-expression through art and has now supported over 256 traumatized child soldiers in northern Uganda by forging his own charitable arts foundation.

Hugely talented and having secured a residency with a major Kings Place London gallery in 2010, the film follows his story from his warn torn home to the heart of art culture in the UK, contrasting new cultural influences and motivations for the artworks he creates during his British residency with the survival strategies of his community back home.

Interweaving his story with those of the child soldiers he continues to help, the documentary looks at how art helps these children learn to put aside their gun culture as they express experiences dominated by war and poverty.
